Our History
PLA Exports (Pvt) Ltd. is a young and dynamic company established two years ago, but its roots go much deeper. The vision behind PLA Exports stems from the entrepreneurial journey of its founder, Mr. P. J. A. Fernando, the Managing Director of Manisha (Pvt) Ltd., whose business career spans over five decades.
Mr. Fernando began his business journey fifty years ago by entering the coconut-based coir industry, laying the foundation for what would later become one of Sri Lanka’s most successful ventures in the sector. Recognizing opportunities beyond local demand, he soon expanded into coconut oil manufacturing, initially serving the domestic market before venturing into international exports. This forward-looking approach allowed his companies to grow steadily, reaching global markets with products renowned for quality and authenticity.

PRODUCTION CAPACITY
Our daily target is to process approximately 50,000 coconut husks, translating into a substantial volume of premium-grade coconut husk chips. To meet this ambitious
production volume, we have established a robust procurement network that sources coconut husks from multiple reliable suppliers across the island. These partnerships ensure that only the highest quality raw materials are used in our production process.
A continuous and consistent supply of coconut husks is critical for maintaining uninterrupted production and meeting export deadlines. Therefore, PLA Exports has implemented strict quality control measures and logistical frameworks to manage sourcing, transport, and input processing. This includes long-term agreements with local suppliers and transport providers to guarantee timely delivery and freshness of the raw material.
This decentralized sourcing strategy not only stabilizes our supply chain but also provides income opportunities for coconut cultivators and processors throughout Sri Lanka, creating a broader economic impact beyond our operations.
